Whilst my Human Givens journey began in 2009, my work in the field began 20 years prior. I have since taught Human Givens on a counselling skills diploma and worked as a therapist with adults, staff within organisations, teachers, parents, young people and children overseas as well as in the UK (particularly Sri Lanka). In private practice my strengths lie in flexibility and creativity - tailor-making my approach to each client. I use an eclectic approach within the Human Givens framework, knowing exactly why each varied and different technique can be effective in accordance with current neuroscience.
I work from a trauma-informed, solution-focused integrative perspective, exploring with my clients how to access their own resources and learn skills to make life work well. This includes working with the body and helping to harness and reclaim our amazing brains, getting our innate resources to work effectively for us so that our emotional needs can be more easily met in balance. Therapy doesn't always have to be long-term (although sometimes it needs to be) and I consider it a priviledge to bear witness to change and transformation.
I am happy to offer a free 15 minute chat on the phone before the first session.
In addition to personal therapy, I am a trainer and run seminars and workshops for staff, management, teachers, parents and young people in schools and other organisations. With Human Givens' organising ideas as the framework, my sessions cover a wide range of topics around emotional and relational life skills. Do get in touch for further information.
