HG practitioner participates in global congress
HG practitioner Felicity Jaffrey, who lives and works in Egypt [above, right], received the extraordinary honour of being invited to speak at Egypt’s hugely prestigious Global Congress on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC24) in Cairo in October. The PHDC provides “a global platform for stakeholders to discuss new dynamics for population, health and human development hot topics, challenges [and] opportunities, and propose action plans and road maps”.
The congress, which is held under the auspices of the President of Egypt, H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, was hosted by its Ministry of Health and Population and the Fahim Foundation, a highly regarded mental health organisation founded by a former Minister of Health, with the aim of improving understanding of and access to mental health care for the general population. Congress partners include United Nations Egypt, WHO, Unicef, Unesco, the World Food Programme and more.
"It was a little daunting at first but, as I thought about it, knowing that the HG approach has so much to offer the world, I felt excited at the opportunity to spread the word about HG..." Read article >
New research shows HG therapy is highly effective for treating veterans
A new study by researchers at Nottingham Trent University provides strong evidence for the effectiveness of the charity PTSD Resolution’s programme in treating mental health symptoms experienced by former members of the UK armed forces. Analysing data from over 200 veterans who registered for treatment between 2020-2023, Project-100 found significant improvements across a range of clinical measures.
PTSD Resolution uses Human Givens Therapy (HGT) exclusively, through a UK network of 200 Human Givens registered therapists, to help veterans, reservists and family members struggling with conditions like PTSD, anxiety, and depression free of charge. Founded in 2009, the charity is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists to the Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services (QNVMHS). Find out more >
New book – finds inspiration in HG
In September Ivan Tyrrell, co-founder of the human givens approach, was delighted to receive an advance copy of a new book entitled Nobody is coming to save you by New York Times Best-Selling Author Scott Mann. Scott has found the human givens approach and insights derived from it hugely helpful in his work and inside the book was a personal message from Scott which reads: "Ivan, you are so inspirational to me, and you are cited throughout this book starting with the opening quote of Chapter 1."

A baseline for human flourishing
The Conciliators Guild, which seeks to spread new knowledge that widens context in politics, helps increase tolerance and nimbleness of mind and encourages the development of practical solutions, has a new podcast which it publishes on its YouTube Channel. The latest interview with Ivan Tyrrell (see above) talks about the human givens approach – which is fundamental to the work the guild does.
Other interviews include one with Iain McGilchrist on Civilization and the divided mind and another fascinating one with Dr Calum Nicholson entitled An Anthropology of our Age of Discord. All three interviews are well worth watching.
