John Bell is the Director of the Middle East and Mediterranean programme at the Toledo International Centre for Peace in Madrid. He has worked for over 25 years in the Middle East as a UN and Canadian diplomat, as well as with several mediation and conflict-resolution organisations. Throughout this time he has lived in Beirut, Cairo, Gaza and Jerusalem.
