Renewing your membership

All members are notified in advance by letter or email of when their membership is up for renewal.

In addition to sending in their renewal form and paying their membership fee, TraineeRegistered, Accredited and Senior Accredited Members (and those Fellow Members for whom it is applicable), will need to ensure that they have met all of the conditions of their level of membership, including for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), insurance and supervision, and that they have sent all required paperwork to the Membership Secretary in plenty of time for their renewal date.  Please note:  We are unable to renew membership without this information.

For full details of the requirements for the different levels of membership, please visit the relevant information page for each (there is also additional information about renewals for members in the Members’ Area).

Previous members

If you have applied for membership before, or been elected and either resigned or allowed that membership to lapse, please let us know in a covering note if you decide to reapply for membership at a later date. An earlier application/membership will not adversely affect a new application, but may enable the Institute to locate previous information and possibly speed up the processing of your new application. The RPSC may set additional requirements for membership for anyone who is returning to therapeutic practice after a while, this is reviewed on a case by case basis.

If you have any questions about your membership and its renewal, please don't hesitate to contact us at the HGI office on: +44 (0)1323 811662 or via email to: [email protected]

Please note.  If you have been the subject of any substantiated complaint, in any previous formal role, or have any pending or current court or disciplinary proceedings against you, then this will need to be declared when you apply for membership of the HGI. Depending on the circumstances and outcomes, this may affect your eligibility to join or renew your membership. If you would like to discuss whether this applies in your own circumstances, please contact us.
