I graduated in medicine at the University of Edinburgh in 1985 and have enjoyed working as a doctor in a wide variety of medical settings.
I have mainly worked in General Practice and was a GP and a Community Hospital Practitioner in Malton, North Yorkshire for 21 years, eventually becoming a senior partner at the Derwent Practice in Malton.
From 2020 to 2024 I worked as a clinical assistant in General Practice at the Springbank Surgery in Green Hammerton before retiring from medicine in 2024.
I have additional post-graduate experience and qualifications in emergency medicine, palliative care and therapeutics.
Additionally I was appointed honorary senior lecturer at the Hull and York Medical School and have extensive experience teaching medical students, supporting junior doctors in training and mentoring nursing colleagues over many years.
I have enhanced DBS clearance.
It has always been my intention to transition at some point from medicine into consulting and psychotherapy. I am delighted now to be able to offer evidence-based and rapidly effective treatment as a Human Givens therapist.
I am aware of the real challenges that we face in our society to achieve and maintain optimal physical health and emotional wellbeing. My hope is to provide a space where we can explore how best to recognise and meet our emotional needs in balance and to provide accompaniment on the way to a fulfilling life.
