Our in-person events are always inspiring and stimulating and a great networking opportunity. They are well attended by a range of interesting people from around the world, the majority of whom use the human givens approach directly in their work, but many others have benefited from it in their lives or are simply interested in how the rich psychological knowledge the approach encapsulates can be used to improve not only mental health and wellbeing, but any human endeavour.
2024 CONFERENCE
The theme of our next conference is: 'Seeing how to see'
We are planning a highly interactive CPD event which will tackle some professionally and personally challenging questions, with the aim of building knowledge and understanding together as the weekend progresses.
How we see the world shapes the way that we experience it. Equally, the patterns and experiences that form us change the way we see the world.
Those of our clients can determine what they focus on and what they notice, so we must first establish rapport with our clients by entering their models of reality. But this poses a challenge because our own patterns and experiences can prevent us from seeing them clearly. We may be impacted by, among other things:
- our professional view – how we view mental health can determine what problems we see and what solutions are available. Seeing the cause of mental illness as biological, social, environmental or due to past experiences will affect how we approach our clients and what we think they need
- our cultural view – the culture(s) we experience shape how we see and understand the world and this can affect the way we perceive the stories our clients tell us
- our personal view – we all have our own history and experiences that shape our perceptions.
We will update this page as soon as we have further information available.
OVERCOMING ADDICTION SUMMIT
Drawing on real life examples and the latest neuroscience, the speakers at our second online conference looked at the causes of addiction (including links with trauma and self-harm), the 3 key steps needed for recovery, the many faces of addiction, the neurobiology of screen addiction and strategies for avoiding it, the best ways to help those affected by someone else’s addiction, and much more.
THE LIFTING DEPRESSION SUMMIT
On Saturday 27th February 2021, the HGI held its first online conference. Expert speakers, including HG co-founders, Ivan Tyrrell and Joe Griffin, explained and demonstrated how most depression can be lifted quickly and effectively. The day received excellent feedback and also included sessions containing important information about antidepressants and the latest neuroscientific perspectives on serotonin and inflammation in relation to depression.
